To remove stubborn burnt on food from saucepans/frying pans, add a tablespoons or 2 of laundry powder/a tablet and water and boil on cooker until spotless again. Wash pan thoroughly afterwards.

Does anyone know how to get rid of dried on washing powder from a washing machine compartment? Many thanks

For single person households or others where you can't or don't run the dishwasher everyday, put a scoop of oxygen enzyme powder in addition to dishwashing powder in the prewash cycle and it will do a good job on dishes that may not be going to wash up properly. Running this also keeps dishwasher smelling fine.

Put a capful of thick bleach in your washing mavhine drawer without washing powder,put all your White towels or Cotton underwear and socks pop on a boil wash and it cleans your machine aswell as your whites..

cookers- when your stainless steel in the oven are brown with brunt on food, place them in a bath of hot water with a sprinkle of washing powder and leave over night - the next day the dirt will slide off when you wash them and also removes any stains in your bath it kills two birds with one stone.

For all the Americans, biological powder is the equivalent of Tide/all/cheer/etc. (with bleach). Non-biological powder is the equivalent of Dreft or any detergent that has no bleach/dyes/perfumes and is made for sensitive or baby's skin.

Not a tip, but a question. I've been using a polish on my furniture which has made the surfaces sticky, and I've tried all sorts of stuff to wash it off (soapy water made with washing - up liquid, washing powder) all to no avail. Can anyone help me ? I'm afraid to use meths as has been suggested for fear of ruining the finish permanently.

Borax is biological powder. It is sold in almost all grocery stores and very inexpensive.

I believe biological washing powder is laundry soap, I think... 99.9% sure!

To Michele with the burns on her glass cooktop--Have you tried the non-scratch Comet powder? Lightly dampen the scorched area, and sprinkle the Comet over it. Place a damp paper towel over that to help it stay moist and penetrate the stain. Let it sit a while (an hour?), then wipe it up with the paper towel or a nylon scrubber

To the person asking about the enamel over iron pot, are you sure that it is stained and that your enamel hasn't worn to show the iron beneath it? One thing that I've found to get baked-on stains off is to soak the pot with only an inch or so of water and powder dishwasher detergent. That way it's super-concentrated and should break up any grease or baked-on badness.

Just to clarify for some: Biological Washing Powder is Powder Detergent (laundry detergent) here in the US. So stuff like Cheer, Tide, Dreft, and so forth. If you go to an organic store, you'll find Biological ones and non-biological ones

When cleaning ur oven. Make a paste of 1 cup og white washing powder and just under 1 cup white vinegar. Heat ur oven to 180 for about five minutes. Turn the oven off cover the inside in the paste, leave for 1 hour and all the gunk should come off. U may need to use a spatula to get the worse off but it does really work!!!! Saved me hours of scrubbing!!!!

Biological Washing Powder: Do you call this Powder Detergent in the USA? The biological bit I think means it is composed with enzymes do dissolve /breakdown dirt and stains in the process. As opposed to washing out the dirt particles from say fabric. I think it is worth noting that if the clothes say, are not rinsed thoroughly to remove the detergents / enzyme residue some people can have an allergy or irritation especially if intimate garments; less likely with non-biological detergent which is more gentle. Let the clothes soak for 8 hours and wash in the normal wash mode with this solution, no additional soap required. This gets out blood and other stains that have been set in for years. The only thing it hasnt gotten out it ink.

Question: So Kim & Aggie always mention biological washing powder andit seams to work wonders for EVERYTHING, but I have no idea what this could possibly be. Anyone know what we call this in the States?

For the bonfire dog pee dilemma-- try a urine remover with enzymes, or a laundry detergent with enzymes (also called biological powder) --mixed with a bit of water, so it's like paste. Leave it overnight, then wet-vac it up (or blot it up with a lot of papertowels or old rags). Also, I've heard piling salt does well on fresh stains, for soaking up the liquid (let dry, then vacuum up the salt crumbles). Good luck. --I just found runny poo on our white carpet. ;o;

I use a bit of Comet brand scouring powder and a nylon scrubber to clean soap rings from the bathtub.
