Cleaning out the plug hole in a shower tray can be pretty gruesome with lots of slimy hair and stuff? I have found the perfect tool. Use a cheap hairbrush, the type with bristles all the way round. Push into the hole, turn it around and all the hairs blocking the plug will be pulled onto the brush. You can rinse off the brush and use it again. Takes seconds.

Going on holiday? Don’t forget the plants! If you’ve got loads like we have, you can place them together which creates a cool mini plant environment, which can protect them from heat. Otherwise you could use a towel to partially block the bath plug and fill with a bit of water, placing the plants on the spread out towel. This should hold enough water for them to keep going for a week or two.

To clean grills such as George Foremans: Plug in and switch on, soak some paper towels in water and wring out, lay out on the surface, poke into ridges, leave for 5 mins, come back, switch off, use a wooden spoon to drag the dirty paper towels off, throw away, get some new towels to mop up and leave to dry before putting away.

clear a blocked sink by tipping a handful of bicarbonate soda followed by a cup of vinegar straight down the plug. After a couple of hours, pour down a kettleful of boiling water
