I had a bad ink stain on my new carpet once . My son's pen exploded on the carpet and it was days before I found it.
Milk, Milk got the stain out.I poured some in a bowl and used a white clean cloth and soaked it in the milk, then I gently rubbed the cloth into the ink stain. I used a steam cleaner afterwards to finish the job. But not until there was no trace of ink left in the carpet. But Milk did the job.
Milton sterilising fluid is great for cleaning tea stains off the inside of mugs, you can also clean the dried up milk in the filters in your child's sippy cup at the same time, just mix with water and leave it to work its magic.
Not a tip, but HELP!! My son has been sick on our cream bedroomcarpet, he brought milk up after bouncing on our bed. We've cleaned and scrubbed but we can't get rid of the awful smell, basically curdled milk, please can someone help?!
Not a tip but a question - anyone know how to get rid of the smell of sourmilk. A carton of milk burst open in my car into the footwell and the whole car stinks - any tips would be appreciated!
Use soda water to remove stains from spilt wine, milk or vomit (useful for car journeys). It must be done straight away. As soda water lifts spillage like oxyclean. Put towel over area and tread on. Do not rub as you will rub stain in.
you should be able to get rid of fag stains in a carpet by pouring a little milk on it (stops the brown stain), then rub the stain with a raw potato. then clean as normal. it works, dont know how or why!
For fag stains on the carpet pour a bit of milk on the stain and let it soak in. It'll stop it browning over and then if you rub it with some raw potatoe it will be as good as new!
Don't hold me to this one but my Gran swears that if you want to make an old lino floor look great you can use a mix of turps and fresh milk, and then polish it with a cloth - she is very old though...
