To remove deodorant stains from shirts etc., soak in white vinegar and warm water for 30 minutes before putting into the washing machine, the vinegar softens the deodorant and the detergent does the rest.

Not a tip, a question. How do you clean the dust and dirt from fabric items that can't go into a washing machine? I have a couple of items like a few hats, a pair of small stuffed animals, and some fabric covered boxes that are gathering dirt and have no idea how to clean them. Thanks.

Fishy washing machine? Try running an empty load with vinegar in it. It should remove the fishy smell.

To clean your washing machine try using a 1/2 cup of white vinegar and run in hot water cycle twice. It got rid of that sour smell we would sometimes get.

I've successfully cleaned vinyl blinds by taking them to the self-serve car wash. They come out spotless and many blinds can be done in one convenient trip. Take a plastic garbage bag along to keep the remaining water from damaging your auto's upholstery. I've also done this with a carpet runner that was heavily soiled and would not fit into my laundry machine. Be sure to take care, though. The high pressure soap and water can damage the blinds if the hose is held too close.

A quick and easy way to clean a moldy, scaly shower curtain is to simply toss it into the washing machine with a cup or two of white vinegar and a small amount of laundry detergent (with the machine set on "warm water"). All hail Kim and Aggie!

Some doggie toys can be safely cleaned in the top rack of your dishwasher. Fabric dog toys can be thrown into a lingerie bag and cleaned in your washing machine. Don't use fabric conditioner, though! Regular washing will keep harmful bacteria from building up on the toys, possibly infecting Fido's teeth and gums.

When you want to clean the sink of tea stains and make it look like new just sprinkle some washing powder onto the sink and rub in. The sink will come up looking like new. Or better still why not take out your drawer from the washing machine and use the powder from this when you soak it in the sink.

Always leave your washing machine door slightly open when not in use to stop it from smelling bad

Clean shower curtains by washing them in your washing machine on a gentle cycle. It will clean soap scum as well as mildew. When washing is complete, just hang the shower curtain back on the rod to air dry.
